Friday Blog Question: well, no, not really...

Sometimes you just roll a snake eyes. This week I did that, as the question I asked the staff got me one response - and that response changed the subject. Well I'll take responsibility for that, and admit that not only did the question I asked suck, ("What's your opinion of the Joe the Plumber video that's making the rounds?") but I left formatting instructions for the answer. So, yeah, my bad. From now on, if anyone has what they think is an interesting question for us to use, please, please message it to us on Twitter @offmadison. Oh, and here's the sole response I got. Enjoy.

I’m going to pull a Palin (did I just coin a term?) and talk about something completely different. I think one of the coolest things about this campaign is the use of social media and how Obama’s camp has completely embraced social outreach and used it to reach a base of the voting public that McCain completely missed. Announcing his veep choice via text message was brilliant and the fact that he (or someone on his staff) provides daily Twitter updates is awesome...I just hope he keeps it up when is in the White House. How awesome would it be to get a tweet from the President... “just finished press conference in rose garden...off to get my grub on in the WH kitchen...love meatloaf night.” Paul J. Peterson

I am the Social Media Services Manager for Off Madison Ave. I've been with the company since 2006, when I was hired to do SEO, and link building in particular. When social networking sites started cropping up, at first I started using them to create backlinks - but they weren't the best for that, given all of the "nofollow" attributes. However, I did see the potential for all of the direct referral traffic they represent. Since then I've been actively pursuing both tactics for clients: Links that can help them for search, and social postings that get them involved in the conversation. It's about the coolest job you could ever get. ;)

“Joe the Plumber” is a poorly architected distraction.

Actually, it turns out precious few people in the office GOT the e-mail with this week's question. So this week we will write this off to an e-mail server that is very very bad.

Give your two cents
