Friday Blog Question: 10 Years of Off Madison Ave

Off Madison Ave is celebrating its ten year anniversary, as you can read from Wednesday’s post. And today we’re all out of the office, celebrating. Look for potentially disturbing photographs of the outing on our Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/off_madison_ave/) page. (Jason Baer informs me that the official Twitter hashtag for the festivities will be #oma10) So what’s been the best part about working at OMA?

An early and steadfast commitment to digital marketing, results measurement and ROI. Off Madison Ave believed in online marketing long before it was cool for "traditional" agencies to do so. Jason Baer
I love working in a place where good ideas -- even (especially!) if they're "outside the box" -- are embraced.  It's wonderful to see even the youngest members of our team being able to contribute in a significant way -- not just with the work they do, but to what this place is now, and will be in the future.  Having worked in many organizations where the suggestion box is a way to identify the rabblerousers, I love working in a company where it identifies the big thinkers. Being at OMA for more than six years I’ve seen my share of fun times. The best part of has been working with some of the smartest, funniest people on the planet. Here is a quick recap that only OMAers (past and present) will appreciate….
  • Pole dancing at Greesewood flats
  • One bathroom with a line
  • Bumping chairs in the old “Executive” suite
  • Pictures of uvulas on the bus
  • The Weasel
  • Food poisoning at Rinaldi’s
  • Blow up friends
  • Two microwave growth spurt
  • Fart in a can

One of the best parts for me is all the great people we work with and the casual environment we work in.  I came from a place that was fairly uptight and you couldn’t even wear jeans to work, even on Fridays.  It’s nice to throw on your favorite pair when you want to and roll into work (when I’m not meeting with a client).  It’s the little things, you know. It’s also always nice to see everyone so helpful and willing to pitch in when workloads are extremely high.  OMA has a great team environment, keeping the creativity flowing day in and day out! The people. Period. I am surrounded by smart, hard-working people who are all a wee bit crazy – just like me. Judi Merrick
The wealth of talent.  It would be impossible to work at another Interactive agency that also has amazing public relations, creative and market research resources.  My window seat isn't too shabby either. Chris Sietsema
The people!! The brainpower in this office continues to impress me on a daily basis. As someone who started her career here, I could not ask for better mentors or a better work environment. These people are not just smart, they are hilarious – which makes coming to work every day a lot of fun.  Our agency has a culture unlike any other –  and I feel lucky to be apart of it. Shannon Pagels
I would say the best part is the people that work here.  Everyone has so much knowledge, talent and creativity to bring to the table that translates into some of the most amazing work I have ever seen.  We work hard, but we have fun too - not to mention an awesome office in one of the best locations in Tempe! I am the Social Media Services Manager for Off Madison Ave. I've been with the company since 2006, when I was hired to do SEO, and link building in particular. When social networking sites started cropping up, at first I started using them to create backlinks - but they weren't the best for that, given all of the "nofollow" attributes. However, I did see the potential for all of the direct referral traffic they represent. Since then I've been actively pursuing both tactics for clients: Links that can help them for search, and social postings that get them involved in the conversation. It's about the coolest job you could ever get. ;)
